The short answer
- Independent agency headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, serving Broward County and all of Florida.
- Appointed with multiple A-rated carriers, so a health condition that gets rated at one company can be placed at another.
- Mortgage protection, final expense, term and whole life, and IUL.
- No fee for a consultation, needs analysis or quotes — rates are filed with the state and are the same either way.
- Call (239) 297-6364 or email joseph@fastlane-financial.com.
Fastlane Financial is an independent life insurance agency based in Fort Lauderdale. We work with families across Broward County — and across Florida — to put coverage in place: mortgage protection, final expense, term and whole life, and permanent policies with a cash value component.
Being independent is the part that matters. We are appointed with multiple A-rated carriers rather than working for one, so we shop your health history rather than defending a single company's underwriting.
What we see most often here
A few patterns come up repeatedly in this market, and they shape what we end up recommending.
- 01
Homeowners who believe they are already covered
South Florida households carry heavy property insurance — homeowners, windstorm, flood — and the premiums are large enough that people reasonably assume the house is protected. None of those policies pay the mortgage if the person making the payment dies. That gap is the most common one we find.
- 02
Recent buyers at the top of their budget
Broward home prices mean a lot of families are carrying a mortgage that only works on two incomes, or on one specific income. That is precisely the situation term life is built for, and the coverage need is usually larger than the balance on the loan once income replacement is counted.
- 03
Retirees who want the funeral handled
Florida's older population makes final expense a large part of what we write. The goal is almost always the same: the funeral and the last bills should not land on the children, and nobody should be raising money in the first week.
- 04
Self-employed and 1099 households
Contractors, agents, tradespeople and small business owners have no group life policy through an employer. Everything has to be bought individually, which also means it is portable and priced on their own health rather than a group's.
Areas we serve
We are based in Fort Lauderdale and work throughout Broward County and south Palm Beach County, including Plantation, Sunrise, Davie, Pembroke Pines, Coral Springs, Pompano Beach, Hollywood, Weston, Miramar, Deerfield Beach and Boca Raton. Because most appointments run by phone and video, we also work with families elsewhere in Florida and in the other states we are licensed in.
A few Florida-specific things worth knowing
- Rates do not vary by neighborhood. Life insurance rates are filed with the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation. Unlike homeowners insurance, your zip code does not change the premium — your age, health and tobacco use do.
- Florida has a free-look period. Life policies generally carry at least 14 days from delivery to cancel for a full refund, and longer when the policy replaces existing coverage. Actually read the policy in that window.
- Florida law provides significant creditor protection for life insurance proceeds and cash value payable to a named beneficiary. The details are specific and worth reviewing with an attorney if it matters to your situation.
- Name a beneficiary, and a contingent. Proceeds paid to a named beneficiary bypass probate. Proceeds paid to your estate do not — and Florida probate is not fast.
- Verify any agent's license. The Florida Department of Financial Services publishes a public license lookup at MyFloridaCFO.com. Use it on us, and on anyone else who calls you.
How a first conversation goes
About twenty minutes. We ask about income, debt, who depends on you, health history and what you can comfortably spend each month. Then we build a needs analysis, shop it across our carriers, and come back with options and the tradeoffs stated plainly.
That regularly includes telling someone they need less than they called about, or that the coverage they already have through work is enough for now. There is no fee for any of it, and the premium is identical whether you go through us or straight to the carrier, because the commission is already inside the state-filed rate.
Fastlane Financial is an independent insurance agency and is not an insurance carrier. Policies are underwritten and issued by the insurance carrier, and all coverage is subject to carrier underwriting, approval, and the terms of the issued policy. Product availability, riders and pricing vary by carrier, state, age and health. Statements about Florida law are general information current as of the date below, not legal or tax advice — consult your own attorney or tax professional. Nothing on this page is an offer of insurance or a quote.
Common questions
- Do you meet in person in Fort Lauderdale?
- We can. Most of our appointments run by phone or video because it is faster for everyone and lets us pull carrier quotes live while we talk, but in-person appointments in Broward County are available if you would rather sit down.
- How much does life insurance cost in Florida?
- It depends on your age, health, tobacco use, the amount of coverage and the type of policy — not on your zip code. Life insurance rates are filed with the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation and do not vary by neighborhood the way homeowners insurance does. A healthy 35-year-old and a 55-year-old smoker seeking the same coverage will see very different numbers.
- Does my homeowners or flood insurance cover my mortgage if I die?
- No. Homeowners and flood policies cover damage to the property. If the person making the mortgage payment dies, neither one pays the mortgage. That is what life insurance does, and it is a genuinely common misunderstanding in South Florida where property coverage is such a large part of the household budget.
- Can you help if I was declined before?
- Often, yes. A decline is a decision by one carrier under one set of underwriting guidelines, not a permanent status. Different carriers treat diabetes, cardiac history, cancer history and mental health very differently. Being independent means we can take your file to the companies most likely to approve it.
- Do I have time to change my mind after buying?
- Yes. Florida law requires life insurance policies to carry a free-look period — generally at least 14 days from delivery, and longer when the policy replaces existing coverage — during which you can cancel for an unconditional refund of premium. Read the policy when it arrives; that window is exactly what it is for.
- Do you only work with Florida residents?
- No. We are headquartered in Fort Lauderdale and licensed to write in additional states, and most of our work is done remotely. If you are outside Florida, call and we will tell you straight whether we can write in your state.
